Hockey and it’s Tricks!
During rehearsal for the Rebecca Sports Live Show, my friend and sports expert, Rebekka Johnson, mentioned the term “hat trick” in relation to a hockey game. As you can imagine, my ears perked up. You see, hockey has been on my mind ever since this weekend when I was hanging out with my Canadian cousins-in-law. They go absolutely bananas for any sports on ice, and hockey is their #1 obsession! Apparently there was a Vancouver Canucks playoff game they were watching that went into two overtimes! TWO! (talk about a sport I can get behind. Super respectful - they’ll play until someone wins!) Anyway, my weekend was buzz, buzz, buzz about hockey and suddenly Rebekka brings up a hockey term I had never heard of! I HAD to know. She then went on to explain that after 3 hockey goals, a team gets offered a hat trick. I said, “like a magic trick?”, and she said, “No, a hat trick! That’s when…”. So in case you haven’t heard, hockey is a rewarding sport. They encourage their players to make points by offering them hat tricks after every three goals they make. Now THAT’S incentive! Go Canucks!
